Germans No.1 Goalkeeper René Adler and Simon Rolfes will miss the World Cup

Today the press speaker of the German National Team announced that both René Adler and Simon Rolfes will miss the World Cup in South Africa because of injury. Adler was injured in the match against Stuttgart on April 17th. Simon Rolfes has not played for his team since undergoing surgery on his knee in January. He told Joachim Löw, the coach of the German national team that he would like to focus on his recovery. Same is true for René Adler.

Nonetheless we hope that Germany will compensate the loss of these players and play a successful tournament. Good luck.

Kevin Kuranyi is not nominated for the World Cup in South Africa

Today Joachim Löw announced that he will not nominate Kevin Kuranyi, the forward of Schalke 04, for the World Cup in South Africa. It is now the second World Cup in a row after 2006 that Kevin Kuranyi is set to miss the most important tournament there is. Since Mister Löw generally stands by his performance principles, meaning that he only nominates the best players who are playing regularly for their clubs, this decision is particularly hard to accept. Compared to his rivals for the same position (forward), Kevin Kuranyi has played the most time this season. He even scored the most goals (together with Stefan Kießling) of all German forwards. And compared to specific players like Mario Gomez, who has not scored for his football team Bayern Munich and who has also not scored in the national team, this decision is difficult to accept. If Mister Löw followed his own logic of the performance principle, then there would be no excuse to nominate Kevin for the World Cup. Instead, he argues that Kevin no longer fits in the game and team structure that Mister Löw has built over the last two years.

It is a hard decision and sad for Kevin Kuranyi. In October 2008, during the match between Germany and Russia, he left the stadium during the game without saying anything. In consequence Mister Löw kicked him out of the national team and said that he would never allow Kevin to play for Germany again, as long as he was the coach of the German national team. After Kevin was so successful playing the whole season, many experts wanted Mister Löw to forgive Kevin Kuranyi and nominate him for the World Cup. Too bad this won’t happen.

Anyway, Kevin Kuranyi and Joachim Löw should both use our fantastic profile flags on profileflag.com to show support for their favorite team. Kevin can also use another flag if he likes. Show support and choose your new profile picture on profileflag.com.
